Bull and ox are two different livestock that is used for different purposes; they are both parts of the bovine family. The ox is larger than the bull. In agriculture, an ox is used for pulling, especially for plowing and harvesting crops. The ox used for these purposes are usually beyond the age of four; they are used for cart transportation.

Some are wondering what the differences are between a bull and an ox. An ox is a term that is used for a specific type of animal but it has already been castrated. When you say bull, this means that the sexual part of the male ox is still intact. The bull is considered to be more aggressive as compared to the ox. The oxen that we see right now are considered draft animals.
One of the mistakes that people make is assuming that the type of meat labeled as “ox” is a lower type of meat. Take note that there are different types of oxen that are available. Sometimes ox is used as a labeling convention to help people distinguish it more from the meat of other animals.

The main difference between a bull and ox is how they are bred. The ox is more regulated when it comes to breeding, mainly because they are not a prominent food source. It is a typical occurrence for an ox to be castrated. On the other hand, bull (often referred to formally as a cow) are rarely castrated.
